Despite being advertised on the programme as a Ruthin home fixture, Ruthin travelled to the Waen for only Rhyl's second game of 2018. Ruthin brought their A side to Rhyl with their development side travelling to Denbigh. In perfect rugby conditions it was Ruthin that started the sharper with a two early tries which came from a couple of Rhyl mistakes. The Rhyl lads responded with Liam Walker scoring an excellent team try. Ruthin continued to edge the breakdown play and went on to score a couple more tries before Sonny Williams scored to end a competetive first half.
The second half was a slightly different story with Ruthin dominating almost every area of play. The final score flattered Ruthin and the lack of training and game time was certainly a contributing factor in the scoreline. The coaching team took some positives from the game as there were a couple of good individual performances, in particular an excellent debut from Evan Peters in his first ever competetive game of club rugby.
