Meet the new Coaches

Head Coach Dan Jones:

I Started playing at 6 years old at Denbigh rugby club and played through from mini/junior section up to seniors. In my first season as club captain for Denbigh 1st team in 2012/2013 we won division 2 north to gain promotion to division 1 and won the intermediate cup. After gaining promotion to division 1 north, I continued to captain CRD for the following year and gained the club there highest finish ever in division 1.
In 2015/16 I was forwards coach of rgc u16s which was a great opportunity for me to develop as a coach. Working with top quality coaches josh leach, dai Roberts and Tom Seddon only fuelled my ambition and fire to coach a senior age group!
A big thanks has to go to Bob Sulley who helped me grow as a captain in my playing days and as a mentor with my coaching.
Hopefully I can be as a successful as he has been over his career!
I'm very grateful to Rhyl rugby club for giving me the opportunity to establish myself and to bring highly structured but exciting rugby to the club.
I look forward to working with the players in preseason and making Rhyl a force to be reckoned with in division 2 this season.

Assistant Coach Mike Batey:
Helped lead Abergele RFC from Division 3 up to Division 1. In his previous spell at Rhyl He coached the backs in what was one of the most successful seasons of the last ten years, finishing 3rd in division 2. Many people who have been coached by Mike say he is one of the best backs coaches they have ever worked with (some current players) Mikes strengths are his ability to ‘up skill’ players.

All the building blocks are in place. it's up to the squad who need to get to training in numbers and let Dan and Mike work their magic.
