Match reports for 30th March

Dolgellau 62-0 Rhyl
Rhyl 1st team made the long journey to Dolgellau to face a team that are pushing for promotion and with games in hand over the teams above them must make them favourites to go up. They were rampant against Rhyl and showed their dominance with two early tries. With a lead of 31-0 at half time the game was as good as over . Unfortunately Rhyl could not make the second half comeback as Scotland did against England and conceded another 31 points . The teams meet again at Tynewydd Field in a couple of weeks.
Meanwhile the 2nd XV travelled to Caernarfon and ended up the losing team with a 80-10 result. Short of players, Caernarfon loaned two players to even the teams out but Rhyl had little answer against the speedy Caernarfon back line. The main beneficiaries of the games at Caernarfon was the Alzheimer’s society as recipients of all money raised on the day.

Better news from the young youth team who after weeks without a game travelled to Bala and came out 39-8 victors. The team have stuck to the task and although facing teams two years senior to them and finding it difficult at the start of the season, have trained hard to bring back much better results. Things look good for the youth squad as numbers of this years u16s join them for next season.
