In a rearranged fixture, Rhyl travelled to Pentre Mawr for the local derby against Abergele. Abergele started the game strongly with some very good evasise running scoring the first try of the game. They continued to use the large pitch to their advantage running in another 2 tries to take a deserved lead. Rhyl rallied and began to play to their strengths winning good ball at the breakdown and using the width of the pitch to strike back at Abergele with a couple of good scores. The momentum stayed with Rhyl for the remainder of the half as they went on to score a further couple of tries to go in to the break 24 - 15 up.
In a complete contrast to the first half, Rhyl made a very strong start to the second half with some strong running, off-loading and passing leading to some further try scoring. Abergele never gave up and were competetive throughout the half but Rhyl finished the game the stronger winning the game 48 - 15.
The coaching team were impressed with the way the team reacted to their slow start and with the intensity they showed all the way until the final whistle.
