Fixture

First game of the season and first game away from the Waen for Rhyl U12's who hosted Mold at Rhyl High School. Mold started the brighter and opened the scoring with some direct running. Rhyl competed well in the midfield with the well drilled Mold side however Mold went on to score a second try. Rhyl began to use the width of the full size pitch well and some quick passing led to Rhyl scoring their first try. Mold went on to score just before half time to take a 17 - 5 lead into the break.

Rhyl began the second half well and were far more competitive in the set piece with some very good scrummaging. The young Rhyl side never gave up and were competitive at the breakdown but unfortunately didn't have a great deal of possession which made it difficult offensively. Mold scored several tries in the second half with the final score Rhyl 5 - Mold 39.

Despite how the scoreline suggested, Rhyl were competitve for good parts of the game but looked a little rusty in some aspects of play. Plenty of positives for the coaches to take from the game and some things to work through at training during the week.
