Rhyl U15's Finally beat Ruthin

Rhyl U15's have previously struggled against Ruthin although close results Rhyl have failed to score a win in the last 5 years against a well rounded Ruthin side.
Rhyl knew the test would be tough and started on the front foot feeding fast ball to the backs, switching play and offloading perfectly all through the first half not giving Ruthin a look in.
There were some close battles in the breakdowns but Rhyl secured when in possesion and turned over the odd 1 or 2 but it was certainly a headline for the backs in the 1st half, the first try was scored by full back George Jones which started with Scrum Half Kai Wilson running from the lineout on halfway which was played through every backs player on the pitch also involving No8 Christian Hone with a perfectly timed final offload to Jones who crossed in the corner.
Rhyl went through the phases 4 or 5 times drawing in Ruthin's defence with quick ball to on running George Jones who broke the line and ran from 20 meters to touch down.
Rhyl finished the half with another outstanding try recycling the ball at pace, offloading in the tackle and popping the ball from ground which was eventually finished through the strong run of No8 christain Hone through the centre. Callum Gardner converted 2 from 3 kicks in the first half.
The 2nd half was another type of performance where Ruthin were on the front foot for the majority of the half showing exactly why they were victorious in the past meetings.  Ruthin played through the centre and kept pushing Rhyl further back eventually scoring from a strong centre run through the middle which was also converted.  It was much of the same from the restart with a Ruthin scrum on the 5 meter line inside ball to No10 crossing the whitewash bringing the scores closer at 19-12.  Rhyl responded with another try this time from a maul fed at the back to prop Ieaun Davies who offloaded perfectly to centre Kian Mcgregor for his first Rhyl try.
Ruthin piled on the pressure in the last 15 minutes keeping Rhyl in their own 22 but Rhyl's fantastic defence held strong to secure a well deserved 24-12 win.
