Rhyl took on a strong Colwyn Bay side who are always a pleasure to entertain and have improved over the last year or so especially in the pack. it was an evenly matched affair throughout the match in the breakdowns and to The Bay's credit they defended fantastically at times but Rhyl faired too strong in the scrum and lineout and with quick ball from set pieces with the visitors using blitz defence it allowed Rhyl to break through the centre on a number occasions in the first half. Rhyl went in at the break 26-12 up with tries from Chad Fisher, George Jones, Owen Rhys Jones and Hari Owen. Rhyl came out in the 2nd half looking to correct errors and play a more effective defence plan. It was much of the same in the second half with The Bay being more clinical scoring 3 tries in the half through missed tackles and keeping up their great efforts in defence. Rhyl proved just too strong for The Bay in the end and with a Man of the Match performance from Kai Wilson at Scrum Half with looping runs from lineouts and fast ball from the breakdown it allowed the back line to be much more effective in the second half scoring another 3 tries though Captain Christian Hone (2) and Harrison Evans. Callum Gardner had a 100% conversion rate kicking 7 out of 7 from some testing angles. Stand out players were Second Row Daniel North for outstanding tackles, rucking and lineout turnovers and Hooker Aled Jones with accurate lineout ball and strong effective carries but MOTM went to Scrum Half Kai Wilson for excellent link up play, effective pressure on opposition SH and an all round fantastic performance. Well Done Lads, a solid performance going forward against a well organised side.
