Caernarfon 19 - 5 Rhyl U15's

Rhyl U15's suffered their first loss of the new season with a frustrating performance against a very strong Caernarfon side.  Although the wet conditions played a big part in the match causing Rhyl to have an abundance of handling errors Rhyl U15's failed to introduce their backline into the game and stick to their usual strong set plays.  In the first half Caernarfon broke the line and scored early on with an unconverted try.

It was a good even battle between the two sides with most of the match being played on the halfway line.  One of the only times Rhyl U15's managed to get the ball out to the wings resulted in a first try for the ever improving new addition to the squad in Cornell Norton which brought the teams level going into the break.

The second half was much of the same with Rhyl having most of the possesion but gave the ball away far too much due to poor handling and being slow to react in the ruck areas.  Rhyl were capable of winning the ball back but repeated the same errors over and over.  Rhyl's defence stood strong for the majority of the match with some outstanding tackles and good line discipline however Caernarfon broke through the centre on two occasions resulting in consecutive converted tries.
Rhyl pushed Caernarfon back constantly later in the match but again handling errors occured, Caernarfon were under pressure and were forced to kick to clear their lines time after time but Rhyl kept coming back but failing to choose the right options.  The match ended 19-5, the score doesn't reflect how close it was but a couple of missed tackles let Caernarfon in.

There were certainly a lot of possitives for Rhyl in the fact that defensively they were pretty sound, Rhyl came off the pitch knowing their errors in handling and lack of backline introduction shows a real maturity and determination to correct this in time for the next fixture.

Well done lads, not a great result or performance but you know exactly what to do to correct this!!

Man of the Match went to Toby Millar for an outstanding defensive performance at Fullback.
