Bangor away - 05/11/2017

Rhyl travelled to Bangor full of confidence following their recent good form. It was the home team that started the brightest and took a direct game to Rhyl scoring two early tries both converted. The young Rhyl team then began to get a foothold in the game securing good ball at the breakdown and struck back with a very well worked try from Miles Nosworthy who also converted. Rhyl continued to edge the second part of the first half with Liam Walker crossing the line, Miles adding the conversion to level the game. In the closing moments of the first half a well worked training ground switch move from the base of a scrum saw Leon Cotterill scoring to give Rhyl the half time lead.

Rhyl started the second half in the same manner they finished the first half with some direct running and support, which saw Leon score his second try with Gethin Evans adding the conversion. The home team however began to fight back in a very open game and went over to score. Rhyl then added a further try from some good breakdown play with Lewis Jones powering over from 5 metres, Oliver Roe adding the conversion. Bangor then regained some possession and scored 2 more converted tries late in the second half. With the Bangor leading by 2 points, Rhyl showed their strength at the breakdown and with the last play of the game, and some great running and support, Alfie Brown scored in the corner to give Rhyl the win.

A very competetive game from both teams that was a pleasure to watch. What impressed the Rhyl coaches the most was the team's determination to get back in to a game after going behind and demonstrating a never say die attitude that ultimately gave them the win.
