Rhyl played an evenly matched Nant Conwy team today, a slow start from Rhyl allowed Nant Conwy to openup the score board with a good try, Rhyl fought back, but Conwys superior rucking lead to a second Nant Conwy try. With some grear team work, Rhyl went on the attack, going through the phases and looking for gaps in the Nant Conwy defence, Rhyl were rewarded for their efforts after 10minutes, with Harley Griffiths carrying the ball across the line. This was followed a few minutes later with a try from Henry Jacobsen. Just before the half time whisle Nant Conwy, came back with a try of their own in the last seconds of the first half. During half time, it was clear that the freezing conditions was taking its toll on the Rhyl Boys. However, they went into the second half with the usual Rhyl enthusiasm we have come to expect and used to. Within the first minute a break away from Henry, resulted in an early try. This was followed by a series of Nant Conwy tries, however Rhyl made Nant Conwy work for the tries, with some good work by Edward Tonks in the mid field, being in the right place at the right time on many occasions, making some determined runs through traffic and offloading the ball, effectivly to allow Rhyl to make way toward the Try line. Some determined runs by Osian Gittins, again through heavy traffic. Rhyl put in an effort in the closing minutes of the second hald, with a breakaway, from Harley down the wing, using his pace to secure his second try of the game. This was followed 2 minutes later by a well deserved try from Osian Gittins and in the dying seconds another well deserved try by Iestyn Bickerstaff. In summary, it was a good game to watch, although Rhyl didnt play to their full potential. Man Of The Match Edward Tonks. for good consistant play in the mid field area.
