Always going to be a tough game for the Rhyl boys, but there enthusiasm shone through, Rhyl had to borrow 4 players from the Llandudno side, who were a great asset to the team. Llandudno started off at a blistering pace and found gaps in the Rhyl defence to get a very early try. Spurred on by this and not wanting to be out done, the Rhyl boys showed their grit and determination, going through the phases and slowly making ground, The work that has been done to improve the rucking, payed off, with Rhyl retaining possesion. This was rewarded by a break away try from Harley Griffiths. This set the pace of the game, a fast paced game, with both sides showing grit and determination,in all aspects of the game. This was followed by a number of trys by the Llandudno team, dispite this the Rhyl boys played a great game, with Osian Gittins and Edward Tonks pushing through a solid Llandudno defence, offloading the ball was much better from the Rhyl boys and kept the game flowing. Last play of the first half, gave Rhyl a much needed try, this was a hard fought team effort to get to the line, with the ball recycled countless times, rewarded with second try for Harley. The second half was much the same as the first in terms of pace. Dafydd Mathias, getting in on the action and carrying the ball towards the try line, a turn over ball gave Llandudno the opportunity for a run down the wing, but a supurb interception and tackle from Iestyn Bickerstaff preventing a try. In the closing minutes of the second half, a third try for Harley Griffiths put the final points on the board for Rhyl. From the restart, and last play, a great run from Henry Jacobsen across the field and through a strong Llandudno defence, only to be intercepted inches away from the line.
