Mold Under 11's vs Rhyl

WIth a depleted team for this fixture against Mold under 11s, The Rhyl numbers were bolstered with some good players (volenteers), with most of Rhyl side already acqainted with the Mold boys, because of their involvement with NE Wales schools, the boys fitted right into the team. From the first whistle this was a great, action packed game, from the first whistle, it was obvious that this was going to be an even and highly contested match. With the first score coming in the 8th minute, by one of our borrowed Mold player, who spotted a chink in the Mold defense and made a quick dash for the try line, which was then duly converted by Harley. Some great team work in the Rhyl side, with Daniel A Jones (on his return to rugby) and Osian Gittins with powerful charges through a heavy Mold pack, some excellent rucking kept the ball in Rhyls possesion and virtually a repeat of the first try, Rhyl pulled away from the Mold side. Mold responded with a try of their own, which the determined Rhyl side, really made them work for, some great rucking and counter rucking. Phoebe Cully and MArley Campion doing some great work to clear the ball out of the rucks and scrums. The restart kick was taken by Mold, who sent a ball skyward and with a great catch putting the ball into the hands of Harley Griffiths, who set off on a charge through the Mold lines and across the Try line to secure a third try for Rhyl, which he then converted. Some good team work in the midfield area from Dewi Speakman and Harvey Davies, ensured that possesion was retained and a breakaway, by one of our borrowed Mold players, secured a fourth try for Rhyl. In the dying seconds of the first half, a ball kicked from just inside the Rhyl half, set up a charge down the pitch, by both sides, well read by Henry Jacobsen, scooping up the loose ball to carry across the try line to make it Rhyls 5th and final try of the half and indeed the game. The second hald saw Mold bring on their A side and with the wind against Rhyl, the tides had turned. But  still showing a great display of determination, every Rhyl player put in maximum effort, playing a defensive game, there were some big tackles going in and great rucking and counter rucking. Mold began a series of converted tries, but the Rhyl side forced Mold to work for their points. Dispite the scoreline, this was a massive effort by the Rhyl side and everyone of the players showed grit and determination and should walk away from this with their heads held high....WELL DONE ALL
